The pupils in Achahoish Primary School have chosen Mary’s Meals as their charity to support. When we are involved in any fundraising activities we always try to include something for Mary’s Meals. Mary’s Meals helps children in places like Malawi and Liberia have one healthy meal a day and to go to school.
For our most recent project we didn’t raise money, we collected some backpacks that we no longer needed. Some we had grown out of or no longer used. Then, after Mrs Firth read out the list of what children in other countries would need we started to collect them. They need things like pencils, erasers, sharpeners, t shirts shorts or sandals. Any small item that will help them get to school. Also toothpaste, toothbrush and soap which can be luxury items to these children.
Before Christmas we all went in to Mary’s Meals in Lochgilphead and took our back packs – we had 5, so we know that we are helping 5 children to have a lovely surprise backpack at Christmas time.
